There are loads of gold strategies in Cataclysm, most of them are quite boring to be honest. I've personally found a new and interesting way of making gold in Cataclysm. It all comes from abusing the "Chinese Gold Farmers", as they are commonly called. These people work in shifts for up to 12 hours per day, and they have a specific number of gold earned that they have to reach before the next person steps in to keep farming. And if you know how to abuse this, then the profits can be enormous. Because they only play for around 12 hours, Auctions isn't that viable for most of them because they need gold fast, they need it instantly.

They do some mob farming which gives them gold directly, but they can also farm items like herbs, ores, leather, recipes, enchanting materials, and so on. When there is about 30 minutes left of their shift they will try to sell the items that are left through the Trade Channel, and the longer they go without selling their items, the more desperate they become.




This Means that You will get the items a lot cheaper than the Auction house price, Sometimes you will get your own personal farmer, try to get him to keep selling items to you and you only, either by CoD or trade them whenever they get online. The gold farmers have a deadline, for when they have to change shifts and, and they also have to get at least X amount of gold, when this "deadline" come close, at 23.00+ server time, they will load everything off on the first person whispering them, it can be "WTS Saronite ore" If you buy these, they will trade you again, put up some items(herbs, eternals etc) and say a number in whisper or just wait, this is when you crush them.

They might want 11gold for a saronite stack, pay them 9. If they want 10gold for each eternal life, pay them 8. 15g Icethorn? More like 12.5g. They are not in a position to negotiate and will take close to any offer. Remember to bring a lot of gold, and a lot of space.

ALWAYS ask people how much they want for an item if they advertise in trade, 90% of the time it will be below AH price and if it´s an high level item or if you buy in bulk(many items, 100 stacks of herbs etc) you can push the price down by at least 10-15%.

How To Make A Bank Alt in World of Warcraft

When you're going to earn gold through the Auction House you need a character that can be close to the mailbox at all times and won't have their bags filled up with quest items / Binds on Pickup Gear / Potions and everything that your level 85 has in their bags. This way you will have fast access to the Auction House and you will always have enough bag space for all your items. There are many different ways to play the Auction House, with this article you should be able to make enough gold for all of your Cataclysm needs, the first step is a Bank Alt.




Why Should I Make a Bank Alt?

Well, if you're happy farming mobs and Volatiles for 150 gold per hour then you won't need a Bank Alt. Bank alts are for the people who wish to take their gold making to the next level. Let's say you just hit level 85, you farmed some Player vs Player gear, you played the Rated Battle grounds and the Arenas, maybe you even ran a few raids, Then what?

Maybe you're new to the game and just started your first character and wants to make enough gold for a mount at level 20, and some nice Binds on Equip gear while leveling.

Or you're just a casual player that wish to make more gold in the game for which ever reason there is.

Everyone needs gold, and that's a fact. Some people find making gold through the Auction House a bit of a challenge, some do it for the rush, and some do it because they need gold. I'm personally a bit of all the things. If you feel like you need more gold in the game, or a challenge, or if you're a bit bored. Then you need to create a Bank Alt.

How To Make a Bank Alt

The absolute first thing you should do when creating a bank alt is basically just create a new character to store your herbs, ores, potions, enchanting materials, and Binds on Equip gear on.

Don't choose the name that your main character has. For example, if your main character is named Steve, don't create a Bank Alt named Stevebank. If you do this people will be able to know which your main character is and then just check if you're online on either your bank or your main, and if you're not, they logon to their bank alt and just undercut your stuff on the Auction House.

Try making the name a bit personal, such as mine, DiscountDan.

You should make a bank alt for each market you are going into, for example I got 4. One for Glyphs, one for Enchanting Scrolls, One for Low level greens, and one for The rest, blues/epics/ores/bars/ herbs etc.

Get x4 Frost Weave (20 slot) bags, I recommend a personal Guild Bank to store everything in once you get a bit more serious and start making big money. Then you should install the Auctioneer Addon and read up on a few different gold strategies.
